EMS Training of the Berkshires
First Responder is a comprehensive course designed for “First Responders” those individuals most likely to be the first rescuers on the scene of an emergency.
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic) program offered at EMS Training of the Berkshires has been uniquely designed to provide students with the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for successful completion of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts state certification exams. This EMT basic training program is approved by the Office of Emergency Medical Services and we are an approved training institution with OEMS.
Our program is taught using the current U.S. Department of Transportation Emergency Medical Technician Basic curriculum. The lead instructor and program coordinator is an approved EMT Instructor/Coordinator with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services. The teaching staff is a handpicked group of professionals with a wide range of patient care and teaching experience.
Our primary goal is to prepare students to provide safe, quality entry level EMT practice for those wishing to pursue a career in the public safety field. Emergency Medical Technicians are utilized by many agencies; they include police and fire departments, ambulance / rescue squads, and private ambulance services. This Emergency Medical Technician course is an in-depth course in basic life support, which, upon completion, the student will be proficient in, but not limited to the following:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the state certification exam. The practical exam and application fee is $150 and is paid to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The written exam is $40 and is taken at a state approved private testing company and the instructor will assist students with information on the registration process. Tuition includes textbooks and Practical exam site fee.
